A Bit of Fun in Honokohau – Maui Portraits

I always love photographing Jean. She was home on Maui for Spring Break from UH Manoa and we were supposed to do a romantic photo shoot with her boyfriend, Evan. Apparently there was a bit of a scheduling conflict with a fishing trip, so me and Jean decided to go out anyway and we’ll get Evan this summer.

We decided to head up North to Honokohau. Many people don’t venture much farther than Kapalua, but it sure is a beautiful treat to explore this part of the island. The rugged coastline and lush greenery is amazing. For this session, we were literally on the side of cliffs (this is not a good place for a children’s shoot!). The beauty of Maui is absolutely breathtaking – so is Jean! Loved all the laughing and the fun we had.

Help needed for the Paia Youth & Cultural Center Skate Park

As many of you know, I’m an avid supporting of all good deeds on Maui and donate money from every session to a good cause through my GIVINGisAWESOME campaign. The Paia Youth and Cultural Center is raising funds for their skate park. They are 50% away from their goal and there are 6 days left in the fundraiser. This is a very important center for the youth on Maui, so if you have any spare dollars around, I would really love it if my friends and clients could give to this important project.

Lovely Family of 5 | D.T. Fleming Beach Maui Photographer

DT Fleming Beach Maui Photographer

I love DT Fleming Beach for Maui portraits because it is such a rugged, Hawaiian looking location. Though it doesn’t have a direct view into the sunset, it has a magical light that happens just about every night. It is definitely one of my favorite places for vacation photography.

I met this lovely family at the beach for a family portrait. It had been a really long time since they had done a family portrait and they figured Maui would be the perfect place to remedy that situation! And I couldn’t agree more…. what a perfect place for a family photography session. The boys were absolutely charming. Todd and Bonnie were awesome – poor Todd had suffered some pretty bad foot sunburn. OUCH! I really enjoyed chatting away at the end of the session about family and kids and life on Maui. What a wonderful session…. without further ado, the images!!!

A little note on the watermark… I’m working on a new watermark. I’m not sure this is the one that will win. So be on the look out for testers and let me know your thoughts on my Facebook Page!

2 Year Olds

So picture this…. I am in the process of completing a very important photo session AND re-doing my website at the same time. I go to burn the disc for said important client and my Mac (aka “MacDaddy”) makes all kinds of wonky noises and the disc won’t even go in all the way. Uh-oh….

Took it to the repair place (we have no Apple store on Maui – whaaaa!) and they said they’d take a look inside the drive. I got a call later that it was indeed blocked and that coins and a button were the culprit. Not only were they shoved in there, but they ruined the drive. Major bummers. All my files for the website were waiting safely on the Mac and the store needed it for at least a week. Bummer.

I can’t say that I’m too terribly mad at Cruz. He is, after all, two years old and we’ve been working on putting spare coins in the piggy bank. He must have thought that the computer disc drive was a super special spot to hide his coins. Plus, it’s just really hard to be mad at this face….

Baby in Upcountry Maui

Here are the culprits, which are now safely tucked away in the piggy bank!

I’m headed out to a wedding this afternoon and then will get down to business on finishing this website. I have lots of things coming up for it – new portfolio galleries are coming and a very special new page called Camera Chat is coming as well. So many things planned and never enough time!
