Sweet Sisters and their Puppy – South Austin Photographer Mariah Milan

When photographing young children, I never know quite what to expect. That is just the nature of photographing small children – sometimes it’s easy peasy and other’s it’s more of a challenge. Throw in a puppy and I really didn’t know what to expect! With Suri and Saxon, they were such a dream to photograph. These sisters obviously love each other very, very much. And their puppy, Vinny, was sweet as could be.

I loved watching how Saxon would run toward her older sister, hold her hand. And how gently Suri was with her. I think that they will be very good friends as they get older. And they’re cute as can be!! Mom did a great job picking out their beautiful white dresses and shoes. They completely fit in with the beautiful decor of Dunvegan Keep where we had their Austin portrait session.

My Big Guy Turns One

My dearest Cruzito,

Today you are one. Actually at 10:34pm tonight you are “officially” one.

Today I cried both tears of sadness that my baby boy is growing up – not to be a baby much longer – and tears of excitement as you are experiencing the world with such wonder, amazement, and delight. I feel privileged to watch you learn and grow. I feel like the luckiest woman on the planet to be your mom.

Before you came into my life, I didn’t know how I could handle a third child. When you were born and looked at me with your deep brown eyes, the love I felt for you was instant and deeper than any other before. A special place in my heart and soul opened up just for you, Cruz.

In many ways you are an angel sent to me – I often call you my Cherub.

You are such an easy going baby – you live up to your name in every way – such a Cruiser. You adore your big sister and brother and try your best to keep up with them. You love noodles of any kind. And beans. And rice. When you’re happy while eating, you kick your feet. You are so good at taking your bath and usually fall asleep pretty easily.

I love the moments when you nurse, though they are becoming less and less frequent. I know that soon you will be done. And I will never nurse another baby again. I feel sad about that.

I love kissing the freckle on your foot. And tickling your crazy long toes. And kissing your cheeks. And tickling you. This list could go on and on.

Cruz – you are one. I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by. You are an amazing person and bring so much to my life. I love you my son.

Mini Sessions | Austin Children’s Photographer

The weather turned out wonderfully on Saturday – perfect for our Valentines Mini Sessions. I was so happy to see so many children come out for this event. All the kids have grown so much since I photographed them last! I even got to meet some new friends – Elle from Ella Bella Photography brought her two adorable boys down.

While it was wonderful seeing everyone, this day was also about raising funds for the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas and Austin Pets Alive – thank you to the families that donated generously! We raised over $160! This money will do a lot of good in our community – thank you again.

How did this happen? How did my little baby go from just starting to crawl to now wanting to walk?

Cruz took four steps today. I can’t believe it!

We were playing after the mini-sessions today and he stood up and stepped. I adore how proud he is of himself. I also adore how proud Peter is. Their faces are priceless!

I had the honor of photographing sweet Cade just prior to Christmas. He is, indeed, a sweet little Prince.

I love the way his mommy looks at him and the way he kept looking at her. So special.

His special hat was made by his great grandmother, and his grandmother wore it as a baby. I love special pieces like that. I loved the way his grandmother glowed with delight when he slept snugly wearing this special hat. The entire afternoon was just beautiful.

I arrived to find Mama and Baby resting together. Little Lady was only two and a half days old. She is exquisite in every way – and so tiny.

I set up my portable heater and found good light. But every time she was away from her mom for more than a few minutes, she became uncomfortable. In her mama’s arms is truly where she was happiest. So I shifted gears from a shoot with only her and snuck in some images of her and her beautiful Mama. They are some of my very favorite. The bond they share already is so amazing – truly beautiful to witness.

Congratulations Mama on your gorgeous baby girl!
