Maui Babymoon
We met on a stunning morning in Kapalua for Rashmi and Rahul’s Maui babymoon and anniversary. These two love birds came to Maui to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary and their bundle of joy due in a few months.
Rashmi wanted a beautiful, tropical beach and we emailed back and forth to find the perfect spot. She loved Kapalua Bay and it didn’t disappoint! I asked Rashmi to answer a few questions about her session and here’s what she had to say:
What did you love about the location of our session?
The location had everything we would have liked to see for a perfect Maui Vacation shoot. Palm Trees, amazing blue waters and some signature Hawaiian lava rocks. Kapalua Bay was a great beach to shoot at.
What was your favorite part of your session?
Getting my stiff husband to loosen up and get into the photoshoot vibe and start posing was my best and most memorable experience of the shoot, apart from being on Maui’s beautiful Kapalua Bay beach, by the Pacific Ocean.
Was there anything you were nervous or worried about before the session?
Since the shoot was planned for our 10th wedding anniversary and babymoon of our first child, I was nervous about how the location would turn out, since we hadn’t seen it before, but it turned out to be perfect.
Any funny stories or interesting happenings during your session?
Getting my husband to relax and be natural was the funniest part of the shoot. While I was pretending to giggle and laugh for the pictures (since I’d like to think I am a natural poser), I started rambling some funny code language snippets that only my husband and I share, that make us crack up everytime we hear it. It broke him out into a genuine laugh and a jovial mood, while putting him at ease through the rest of the shoot. While we thoroughly enjoyed the shoot, it also turned out to be a unique and special bonding experience for us.
Any advice to other families or couples before their photo sessions?
Our advise to couples before the photosession is to ensure your outfits, themes, props needed are all planned at least a month in advance, in case you are online shopping to ensure on-time deliveries of your items prior to flying out to Maui. Also research your photographer and plan your shoot vision and details with the chosen photographer atleast a month in advance.
What made you choose Mariah Milan as your Maui photographer?
While researching the photographer I came across Mariah’s work and was blown away. Before I booked with Mariah I had a brief chat with her and she seemed very warm. I was able to share my shoot vision with ease and she answered all my questions and queries about the shoot making me feel confident of what to expect on shoot day.
What do you hope your kids/family will say years down the road when looking at these images?
I am sure my parents and inlaws will love the pics as they went head over heels for the “same-night sneak peek preview” shots that Mariah sent us. We hope our kids look at the pictures some time down the road and say “Wow!! Mom and Dad were quite a stunning couple in their younger days!”
