Maui Wedding Photographer: Megan and Jason at Ironwood Kapalua

Maui Wedding Photographer

Megan and Jason had never been to Hawaii before, but they knew that they wanted a location that was quintessential Hawaii and not necessarily all beach focused. With the assistance of Maui’s Angel’s Weddings, they decided on Ironwood Beach in Kapalua, which is also a favorite of mine!

These two have never been professionally photographed, which surprised me, because they are such a beautiful couple. We started out at their hotel for Megan’s preparation images.

We then headed out to Ironwood for them to have their first look moment. Megan admitted she was so excited and nervous. I placed them where they needed to be and that moment when Jason turned to see her with a smile on his face, I could tell that all her nervousness faded away. They walked to the ceremony site together.

As we started the ceremony, raindrops began to fall. Rain is always a possibility on a tropical island, but in this case the rain was light enough to not be an issue. I think it actually made the ceremony even more magical when a rainbow appeared. The wind also kicked up just a bit but we worked it to our advantage with Megan’s beautiful dress. When I asked her about her favorite thing from the wedding, this is what she had to say, “My favorite thing about our wedding was the beautiful, private location. I’m so glad we stuck with our choice to do an elopement style wedding in Hawaii, with just a few guests. It gave us the ability to completely focus on eachother on such a special day.”

After the ceremony we explored the beach and the rocks until the dramatic sunset. Jason was ever attentive to Megan’s every need, even chasing the veil when the wind caught it. Megan looked so beautiful in her gown. Even the wind worked with us and the sunset was completely amazing.

Planning a wedding from far away can seem daunting, so Megan’s advice for others: “My advice for other brides planning a wedding on Maui is to try to relax during the planning process. The last few months leading up to the wedding seemed to fly by so fast for us. Trusting our planner and vendors is important and really helped me to not stress during our engagement. We had faith that they knew what they were doing (especially since they have planned way more weddings than us).

The goal is to get married and start a wonderful life together. So even if everything doesn’t go just as you imagined on the day of, it is still your special day and that’s what’s important.”
Thank you for such a wonderful evening Megan and Jason! Congratulations!!
